Team Competition and Awards

Team Awards will be presented to the top two teams in the 5K, 10K and 15K races. Teams must have at least one member of each sex and may have as many members as they want, with the top four runners scoring on an age and sex graded basis. This year we also want to recognize the team that raises the most money for the Boys and Girls Clubs, The Refuge House or The Kearney Center.  Team captains should download and submit a team roster.  Contact Tim Unger at runner1612@gmail.com for more information.

Kent Vann Partners in Excellence Awards

People of all ages in Tallahassee love to run. Among the most dedicated runners are our elementary and middle school runners. Gulf Winds is committed to helping this age group by providing grants, instruction, and opportunity.

Schools can earn a Turkey Trot Partners in Excellence Award as follows.

Turkey Trot Participation

The first set of grants will go to the middle and elementary schools that score the most Turkey Trot finisher points. The middle school and the elementary school that earn the most points for finishers in the Turkey Trot races will receive a $300 grant and a trophy to display. Schools receive two points for every student or teacher of the school who finishes one of the races on Thanksgiving Day and one point for every family member or school employee who finishes one of the races. Schools must have a minimum of 50 participants to win top prizes. Second place teams will win $150 if they have at least 30 participants.  All teams with 20 or more participants will receive special recognition.

Turkey Trot Donations

Turkey Trot recognizes the middle and elementary schools that donate the most toiletry items, canned goods or clothing items.  Items must be in good shape. The schools that bring the most donations for friends in need will receive $300 while the second-place school will receive $150. For more information on  donations contact David Landis (dlandis727@gmail.com) or Lynn Landis (llandis964@gmail.com).
